Designed by Chiandchi
Taking any piece or household object and finding a new direction is every designers most warranted focus. This has been no different for Taiwan-based design studio Chiandchi. Their creation, the minimalist designed PAO clock, symbolises the simplicity and elegance of design through the process of illumination. Removing the trimming, unnecessary baggage and keeping to a simple aesthetics has been key to the final design that we see today. The intention was to bring the users focus on reading time itself, bringing a sense of calmness to the user for that short period of time.
The piece has been designed to be as silent as possible through the incorporation of a zinc alloy outer case. This provides the clock with a stable base to quietly tell the time. The two-tone shell compliments the brass hands and comes in two colours, white and blue.
The word POA is similar to “bun” and “telling” in Mandarin.
