Designed by Airhouse
Located in Aichi, Japan, Airhouse have designed this lovely minimalist House in Iwakura. Facing a park that's located across the road and surrounded by building on three sides the architects had to be fresh and original with how they utilised the space. The other areas of challenge was creating an internal layout that allowed for individuality but also provided a sense of awareness and presence. They did this by creating a shared, open space within the centre of the home which features the living, dining and kitchen. The double-height ceiling houses a large skylight that helps bath the home with light. The rooms that sit upon the second floor are bridged that ensures that the smooth transition and circulation is evident.
The design of the home is simplistic yet complex in it's own way. I personally like how the home feels open, loft-like but also provided the soft touches that a larger home could provide.
