Designed by Grzywinski+Pons
Grzywinski+Pons have helped style a gorgeous hotel located in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Eden Locke Edinburgh is a 72 room hotel including a cafe and a bar which was designed by the studio. The minimalist styling originated from a complete overhaul of the internal structure meaning the studio had the chance to create something from almost scratch. The 18th-century Georgian mansion (including the 20th-century extension) was stripped down to the bare bones which created the foundation of the hotel. The styling worked off the warmth of the long Scottish light with a slight lean towards a sophisticated tropical feel.
Much of the furniture and all of the joinery have been created by Grzywinski+Pons. They balanced the use of bent wood, cane, wicker and terracotta throughout the building with brass, stone, cementitious cladding and steel. The use of vegetation helped compose these materials throughout the design scope.
I really like the way the designers have been able to use warm pastel colours within the building and how they complimented this with a subtle injection of colour within each room. The minimalist feeling throughout the whole building is eloquent yet fun creating a very welcoming environment.
