Designed by John Pawson
London-based designer John Pawson has created this minimal single cast piece called the 1882 Cast Bowl. An outcome of a very lengthy period of experimentation, John has managed to create something that explores the "physical limits for a single cast piece". The clean, simple profile works incredibly well allowing the minimalism of the piece to stand out. The bowl was developed using a specially modeled open cast setter which then supported the bowl in the kiln. This helped prevent sagging and warping during the firing period.
